LIVERPOOL WON THEIR 20TH ENGLISH LEAGUE TITLE.

Liverpool won their 20th English league title.

In the 34th round of the English Premier League, Liverpool secured their historic 20th English league title with a resounding 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

The goals that sealed the championship for Liverpool came from Luis Díaz (16th minute), Alexis Mac Allister (24th), Cody Gakpo (34th), and Mohamed Salah (61st). An own goal by Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie (69th minute) further added to Liverpool's tally.

Liverpool clinched the title with four games to spare, as they now hold an insurmountable 15-point lead over their closest rivals, Arsenal.

With their 20th league triumph, Liverpool now stands level with their long-time rivals Manchester United in the all-time English league title count. They are followed by Arsenal (13) and Manchester City (10), who had won the previous four league titles. Notably, this is only Liverpool's second Premier League title since the league's formation in 1992, with their previous win coming in the 2019/20 season.

The team's head coach, Arne Slot, becomes only the fifth manager in the Premier League era to win the English title in his debut season, joining the ranks of José Mourinho (Chelsea 2004/05), Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea 2009/10), Manuel Pellegrini (Man City 2013/14), and Antonio Conte (Chelsea 2016/17). Slot also makes history as the first Dutch manager to guide his team to the English league championship.

In the other Premier League match played on Sunday, Bournemouth and Manchester United drew 1-1. Notably, ten-man United scored a dramatic equalizer in the 96th minute through Danish striker Rasmus Højlund. In the league table, Bournemouth sits in 10th place with 50 points, while Manchester United are in 14th position with 39 points.
