Unique Exhibition at Kuressaare Town Gallery Features 37 Styles by 37 Artists Until End of May

The Kuressaare Town Gallery is hosting a special exhibition open until the end of May, showcasing 37 artworks in 37 different styles, each by a unique artist.

The Kuressaare Town Hall, one of the city's most distinguished buildings, has housed several art gallery spaces for 30 years, having hosted a total of 330 exhibitions during that time.

This current exhibition is a unique selection of pieces previously displayed in the Town Hall. Thirty-seven artists were chosen for the show, with one artwork representing each.

"The majority of them are contemporary artists. However, we also have Haamer and Viiralt represented, both of whom have had solo or smaller group exhibitions here before," explained Lii Pihl, curator of the Town Gallery.

Over the decades, this gallery has played a significant role for the artists of Saaremaa. "For an artist, the gallery is like a second home. The pictures you have at home, you look at them alone, but when you bring them to the gallery, everyone can see them," said artist Külliki Järvila.

The Town Hall has also exhibited numerous artists from mainland Estonia and abroad, playing a vital role in bringing high culture to the people of Saaremaa. "In its uniqueness and location in a historical building, it is truly outstanding. There's nothing quite like it in Tallinn," noted sculptor Terje Ojaveer.

And having showcased art for 30 years, the perspective for the next 30 years is also promising. "I must say, these rooms are so beautiful that there's always a queue of artists at the door," added Helena Keskküla, curator of the Town Gallery.
